Why Just RJ45?

RJ45 is the port that you would find on the back of a router. This is industry standard on a global scale. Every country supports RJ45, and that is the standard of networking, and internet. Under NSC, every connection for networking/interent, telephone, and television must be RJ45. This will mean the removal of telephone lines, and removal of the coaxial lines for TVs. This makes it easier for a technician to work with as they will only have to work with one standard, and not 3.

This might be hard to comprehend of how RJ45 can be used for telephone, and television, but it is possible. For telephone, there are types of telephones call SIP phones which connects via RJ45, and one will enter their credentials and SIP server for telephone services. If you used Skype, or Google Talk, then you likely used a proprietary form of VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol). SIP is an open standard that allows you to choose the manufacturer of the phone, and therefore use your choice provider. For those with POTS (Plain Ordinary Telephone Service) phones, they will use an ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) to connect the phone to, and therefore connect the ATA to the LAN.

If you watch any video on the internet, then you used the same technology and capability that IPTV (Internet Protocol TeleVision) supports. For basic TVs, they will need to buy an adapter such as a Roku TV adapter, and then download the app from their TV provider to watch television shows, and content from the provider. This will allow the customer to have television services without relying on the OTA services. For smart TVs, there will be a TV app from the provider which will provide all of the customer’s TV service. They will simply enter their UID, and password. Once entered, they will be able to watch their subscription service.

As you would see, RJ45 can be used for all of the resources, and not just internet. With that in mind, it would just take sense to use one standard port rather than 3. Since the RJ45 is the best of the 3 connections, it is used for everything.
